Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten program follows an American curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Common Core Standards. It is designed to support the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young learners through engaging and purposeful learning experiences. Project-Based Learning is a key instructional approach within our Kindergarten program. It encourages students to actively engage in meaningful, real-world learning experiences through inquiry, collaboration, and hands-on exploration. This approach promotes critical thinking, creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills while nurturing independence and a lifelong love of learning.
Our Approach
The experienced, well qualified, caring staff in KG plans to provide the children with a balance of activities and experiences across the curriculum. We believe that children learn constantly from everything that happens around them. Through careful planning we balance our daily activities between child-initiated and adult–directed experiences. We introduce subjects and teach in ways that correspond to the developmental needs of the growing child. Our strong academic, practical and artistic curriculum is based on building and fostering a child’s natural capacities at each developmental stage.
Parental Involvement
Here at A’Takamul, we recognize that as parents you are the first and most important educators of your young children. We are very keen that you should feel part of our KG department. Notice boards are situated in both the KG 1 and KG 2 corridors, where you will find details of any forthcoming events or important information, so please check regularly.
Regular newsletters are sent home every week to inform you of the curriculum to be covered. Photographs of events happening in school and of field trips are also displayed in the corridors.
Our Goal for Every Child
Our aim for the children is to develop imaginative qualities and respect for others that will guide and nourish them throughout their lives, and provide a strong foundation for their personal, social and intellectual development. We want to enable them to be practical and take responsibility. These years are where the foundation for learning and life are laid.
KG1
In KG1, children are introduced to early English and math skills through play-based and hands-on learning experiences. Students develop listening, speaking, and early phonics skills to build a strong foundation in language. Social and emotional skills are emphasized, including sharing, following routines, and working independently. Fine motor skills are developed through drawing, coloring, and hands-on activities. The program nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning.

In KG2, students continue to build stronger English and math skills to prepare them for elementary school. Children develop reading readiness through phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension activities. Early writing skills are strengthened through sentence formation and creative expression. Math learning includes numbers, simple addition and subtraction, measurement, and problem-solving. Students also develop critical thinking, responsibility, and classroom independence. The program focuses on academic readiness while supporting social and emotional growth.
