Introducing Our School

At A’Takamul, we place students at the center of their learning experience. Supported by remarkable educators, resources, and opportunities, our students are equipped with the skills they need to explore ideas, initiate inquiries, and generate meaningful insights.

The primary role of our Teaching and Learning Center is to provide guidance and support for continuous student development. We collaborate closely with teacher teams and academic departments to fulfill the school’s mission of excellence in education.

Across our three divisions, we offer a developmentally challenging program that is individualized to meet the needs of diverse learners. We support, challenge, and empower students by applying research-based instructional strategies in every classroom. Our exceptional educators—recruited from around the world—are committed to ensuring high levels of achievement for every child through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

A’Takamul International School (ATIS) was founded to create a synergy between modern, western education with Islamic values and Kuwaiti traditions. A coterie of dedicated educators and Kuwaiti investors laid the foundation of ATIS in 1993. ATIS’s high school is a college preparatory school striving to provide an American curriculum for grades 9-12 while upholding Islamic and Kuwaiti values. ATIS is a private, independent school accepting students of all nationalities who meet the admission requirements.

Our dynamic educational program is designed to prepare students for success not only in their next academic steps, but also in university and life. We foster meaningful dialogue around the latest research in curriculum alignment, assessment, and instruction. Teachers work collaboratively, sharing their strategies and insights so that all students benefit from the collective expertise of our faculty.

The academic program at A’Takamul emphasizes critical thinking and cultivates independent learners. It is further enriched by a robust array of complementary activities that enhance and extend each student’s personalized learning experience.

“I never cut class. I loved getting A’s. I liked being smart. I liked being on time. I thought being smart is cooler than anything in the world.”
— Michelle Obama

At A’Takamul International School, the safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. In accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child & Kuwait Laws, we are committed to providing a secure environment where every student is treated with dignity and protected from harm. Our comprehensive safeguarding framework, including our Child-on-Child Abuse Policy, ensures that all hurtful behaviors—whether physical, emotional, or digital—are addressed immediately and consistently. We empower our students to find their voice by fostering an atmosphere where reporting concerns is encouraged and taken seriously. Through continuous staff training, a dedicated child protection curriculum, and proactive risk management, we strive to maintain a safe, inclusive space that supports the emotional and mental health of every member of our school community.
