Admission Procedure
Welcome to our Admission Procedure page. Below you’ll find a clear, step-by-step guide to help you navigate the admissions process at A’Takamul International School. We’ve designed this process to be transparent, efficient, and supportive for every family joining our community.
Key Steps in the Admissions Process
By the first week of February, the Principals of KG, Elementary, and Middle/High School will provide the School Registrar with a list of proposed interview and testing dates for new admissions. In the absence of a counselor, Principals will arrange for an appropriate staff member to conduct interviews.
Parents interested in ATIS will receive a professionally prepared and annually updated School Prospectus (by the first week of February). This document includes essential information such as the school’s mission, daily schedule, academic calendar, fees, and payment schedules.
The Registrar conducts the initial interview with parents and students. During this meeting, the Registrar will request the following documents:
- Official transcripts or report cards for the past three years, including the most recent one.
- At the time of the interview, the counselor (or KG teacher for younger students) collects the interview form from the Registrar.
- During and after the interview, teachers or counselors complete the form and promptly return it to their respective Principal.
- The Principal ensures the form is completed, signed, and returned to the Registrar by the end of the interview day.
For students entering Grades 9–12, the Middle/High School Principal will assess the number of transferable credits and determine the appropriate grade level placement at ATIS. The GPA and transferable credits will be reported to the Registrar using the interview form.
- When scheduling interviews, the Registrar informs parents of all required documents to bring on the interview day.
- On the day of the interview, the Registrar reviews all submitted documents and refers them to the appropriate Principal for further evaluation. Special attention is given to any noted behavioral concerns.
- The registration process must proceed without interruption to ensure parents feel fully attended to and valued.
- The Registrar completes all sections of the registration form, ensuring accuracy.
- Parents review and confirm the information, then sign the form.
- A deposit must be paid on the day of registration.
- Parents are encouraged to ask questions before finalizing the process.
Pre-registration and fee deposits for the upcoming academic year take place in February annually.
Admission and Re-Registration Procedure
Registration personnel review the prospective student’s application, transcripts, and report cards from the past three years to determine eligibility for placement.
The Principal reviews the applicant’s file and approves eligibility for testing.
- Students applying for Grades 1–12 are tested by the school counselor.
- KG1 and KG2 applicants are assessed by KG staff.
- Prospective students must achieve a minimum pass grade of 70% on the entrance exam and meet grade-level standards to be considered for placement.
- Students entering Grades 10 and above will be admitted based on credit transfers. These credits will not be included in their four-year GPA calculation; only grades earned at ATIS will contribute to their GPA.
- Students transferring into Grade 10 who have completed Grade 9 General Science (or equivalent) are exempt from taking Earth Science at ATIS.
- Parents must inform the Registrar of any known special educational needs or difficulties at the time of application.
- If a student is suspected of requiring additional support beyond the school’s resources, parents may be asked to provide assessment reports from independent professional evaluation centers before a final decision on admission and placement testing is made.
All students joining ATIS must submit a completed Code of Conduct form from their previous school before a final admission decision is made.
Based on test results, ATIS reserves the right to offer various outcomes, including acceptance, denial of admission, or placement at a lower grade level if deemed necessary.
At A’Takamul International School, we strive to maintain transparency, fairness, and efficiency throughout the admissions process, ensuring every family feels supported and informed.
